We are looking for a proactive, organised and approachable Executive to join our growing Education Law Department. This is a good opportunity to work closely on a wide range of matters affecting clients across England and Wales.
Our work often involves supporting parents, children and university students at particularly difficult points in their lives. The role would suit someone who is motivated by helping others navigate complex situations and achieve fair outcomes.
The department advises on university and college disputes, special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs (ALN), school exclusions and admissions, disability discrimination and higher education appeals.
This is a full-time in office role reflecting the collaborative nature of the work and the need for close team support.
The successful candidate will receive training and will gain hands-on experience across a varied caseload, as well as opportunities to contribute to the wider development of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement and Intake
- Acting as a first point of contact for new enquiries, dealing with prospective clients in a professional and approachable manner.
- Providing a supportive and reassuring experience for individuals seeking advice during challenging circumstances.
- Gathering initial information and assisting with the assessment of new matters.
Casework Support
- Assisting solicitors with case preparation, document collation and evidence bundles.
- Drafting routine correspondence to clients and third parties, including Tribunals, universities and other bodies.
- Preparing and organising materials for submissions and hearings.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files.
- Drafting legal documents under supervision, including statements, chronologies, Tribunal forms and submissions.
- Opportunities to observe and, where appropriate, develop advocacy skills through involvement school, higher education and Tribunal proceedings.
Marketing, Client Services and Events
- Supporting marketing and client development activity within the department.
- Assisting with newsletters, articles and website content.
- Helping to organise and attend events, webinars and training sessions.
- Maintaining relationships with schools, universities and other organisations.
- Contributing ideas to support the department’s profile and outreach.
Administrative and Team Support
- Monitoring key dates, hearings and deadlines.
- Assisting with internal reporting and management information.
- Providing general administrative support to the team.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
- A client-focused approach, with the ability to handle a high volume of enquiries.
- Experience drafting emails and formal documents.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- A positive and flexible approach to team working.
- An interest in supporting individuals through complex situations.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in a legal or professional services environment.
- Experience or exposure to education law, public law, litigation or similar areas would be beneficial.
- An interest in education law, public law, equality and discrimination.
- A law degree or paralegal qualification.
- Experience in client relations, marketing or events.
