Chris Barber

Chris studied Law and French at both Cardiff University and Amiens, France. Having spent time working in France, he returned to the UK and joined Robertsons to work in our property department. He then undertook his training contract, qualifying in 2011.

Chris has dealt in all aspects of litigation through his career to include civil litigation, employment and family law. Chris now oversees the the company’s contentious work, however his main focus is family & matrimonial work. Chris is an expert in all aspects of family law, specialising in complicated financial cases, cohabitation disputes and children matters between both divorcing couples and partners (including those in same sex relationships). Chris has a wealth of past clients who go to great lengths to voice their praise for his handling of their cases, in particular noting his depth of legal knowledge, his focus on resolving matters quickly and amicably, and his ability to remove the complexity from legal situations. He is known for his personable character and being calm and supportive for his clients.

Chris is recognised in The Legal 500 for 2023.  The Legal 500 independently verifies solicitors and law firms and our entry in the guide describes: “The ‘approachable and calming’ Chris Barber heads up the team that is increasingly well geared up to handling family matters for high-net-worth clients.” More can be found on the family law department’s entry in The Legal 500 here.

Chris is accredited by Resolution (first for family law) and is a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children. He has also been accredited as a civil & commercial mediator and has previously published a book on business law.
